We refer to a lampshade's size using the bottom diameter. (For instance, a lampshade measuring 8"x16"x12" - top x bottom x side - would be called a 16" lamp shade.)

*Note: rectangular shades have two measurements on the top and bottom representing width and depth. For Instance (7 x 9) x (12 x 16) x 12.

	5 and 6 inch shades are for chandeliers and sconces and have a chandelier bulb clip adapter.
	8 inch or larger lampshades have a washer (spider) fitter that will fit nearly all lamps especially lamps with harps. Fitters are approximately 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch below the top of the shade.
